Ford, Hertz, and Shelby Announce the 50th Anniversary Ford Shelby GT-H
Some 50 years after the first Ford Shelby GT350-H appeared as a tire smoking rent-a-racer at select Hertz rental locations, Ford, Shelby American, and the Hertz car rental company have introduced the latest GT-H model, based on the 2016 Ford Mustang GT. The three companies originally joined forces in 1966 to produce the original Ford Shelby GT350-H, then again in 2006 for the Ford Shelby GT-H.
This latest product of the partnership gets the official moniker of 50th Anniversary Edition Ford Shelby GT-H, is only available in Hertz official brand livery (black with gold stripes), and gets a host of performance, suspension, and visual accessories from the speed-minded folks at Shelby American. About 140 vehicles will be produced, and will solely available for rent at select Hertz rental locations as part of the rental company’s Adrenaline collection throughout 2016.
As an editorial aside, the Shelby GT-H also bears the distinction of being the first vehicle ever written about here at the Driveline Blog, as it was the focus of our very first blog post, published nearly 10 years ago on April 12, 2006. We’ve dropped in a link to that first post below for readers interested in taking a trip down the memory (fast) lane.
